We Gatherin’ 2020

2020: The year of community building in Barbados.

Here is what We Gatherin’ means for Barbadians and for anyone wishing to travel for a purpose.

Reconnect with our earth

Biodynamic agriculture workshop

Planting trees is just the start of our 2030 carbon neutral goal, but together we will plant fruit-bearing trees, crops and edible plants to encourage Barbadian households to rely on their own source of nutritious, readily available food. Register to volunteer or participate in workshops that explore the soil, plant fruit trees, and identify medicinal plants.

Restore our sea’s health

beach & sea clean-ups

We will do intensive clean-ups at beaches around the island. In exchange for two hours of clean-up, select surfing and diving schools will offer participants two hours of free lessons. The clean-ups are more than just collecting garbage. Participants will record what is collected, look for coral fragments that can be used for re-planting in the sea, and rescue mother turtles and eggs that are at risk.

Mentor young men

soccer camp

Part of our community building is ensuring that our young men have mentorship. A UEFA coach will partner with professional Barbadian soccer coaches to hold a two-week soccer camp for 30 boys ages 14-17. Male volunteers can help with setting up sessions aimed at building strength, discipline and teamwork.
